How to Build Your Own Solar Power System and Eliminate Your Electric Bills
Posted by admin on Jan 29, 2012
http://www.EnergyBrainiac.com – How to Build Your Own Solar Power System and Eliminate Your Electric Bills
If you want to build your own solar power system but do not know where or how to start, you need to have someone or something to guide you along. Although there are lots of books written on DIY system to generate electricity from solar energy, not many actually brings you through the detailed steps to building one on your own. What the majority of guides do is give people tons of general information with no specific steps to get you started. Therefore, it is important that you go for a guide that is so simple to follow even for a DIY novice. Here we look at the topics that should be covered to enable you to build your own solar power system.
Essential topics you need to build your own solar power system:
1. Overview of how the solar energy system works. This will include different components that are used in the system as well as their functions.
2. Sourcing of components. Before you even start to think about how to build your own solar power system, the components required for the project has to be ready. A good guide will provide useful information on how one can obtain the parts easily at the lowest costs. In fact, I know of a guide that gives you tips of getting the necessary hardware for less than $200. Read on to find out more.
3. Step-by-step instructions of how to build your own solar power system. Those of you who have done electrical DIY projects before should know that building a power generator entails many considerations and calculations on the current and voltage requirements. It is not as simple as Lego where you simply fix the pieces together and hope that it works. The guide should have all these details.
4. Tracking of the amount of energy the system is producing and storage of excess electrical energy. For such a system to be complete, you need some sort of method to measure the amount of electricity you are producing. Since you will not be using all the electricity you need all the time, there will be some excess and it is important to store it for later use especially at night when the sunlight is not present.
Optional topics that may be useful:
1. How to design off-grid and on-grid system. Designing an on-grid system enables home owners to contribute electricity to everyone else on the same grid. In certain states of US, the energy companies will compensate these homes in monetary reward for doing so. Off-grid system on the other hand, encompasses topics like how to build your own solar power system that you can bring along everywhere you go, like camping for example.
2. Building a wind turbine to generate electricity. Some guides provide this information which is also very useful.

Recharge Your E-Z-GO Golf Car With Solar Energy Using PowerFilm Solar Panel Technology!
Posted by admin on Jan 27, 2012
E-Z-GO introduces PowerFilm Solar Panel technology, a new way to harness the power of the sun to improve the performance of electric golf cars, while providing a simple, cost-effective path to “going green.” This innovative technology is available on the E-Z-GO RXV® and TXT® electric fleet golf cars, and Freedom® RXV and Freedom TXT electric personal golf cars.
PowerFilm Inc. is an Iowa-based company and an industry leader in developing and manufacturing thin, flexible solar module technology. Through extensive collaboration with the U.S. military, PowerFilm has developed unique, field-ready solar solutions for military use and for other government agencies such as NASA.
The PowerFilm Solar Panel is lightweight, thin and flexible. Its snap-top system, designed exclusively for E-Z-GO, allows for easy installation without requiring canopy replacement or structural reinforcement. Users of the panel can reduce energy costs required to charge and maintain their E-Z-GO electric vehicles by as much as 20 percent annually — depending on local weather conditions and other factors — as compared to the cost of charging vehicles without the PowerFilm solution.
Benefits of the PowerFilm Solar Panel include:
• Increased net driving range. The PowerFilm Solar Panel constantly charges the car’s battery when the vehicle is exposed to sunlight, and decreases the depth of discharge during normal use. Less discharge means longer drive time for the car.
• Easy installation. The panel features a snap-top installation system, exclusively designed for E-Z-GO vehicles. Adding the panel can be done without special tools or any changes to the car’s structure or aesthetics.
• Energy efficient. The solar panel creates, on average, enough electricity per year to offset nearly 100 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, according to formulas devised by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
• Reduced energy costs. Because less power is required to charge the electric car overnight, users will see a reduction in electricity costs to charge and maintain their electric vehicles.
• Lightweight and durable. Unlike many solar products that are heavy and fragile, PowerFilm’s Solar Panel weighs less than seven pounds and can be easily maintained by car owners. Designed and manufactured using no glass, the PowerFilm Solar Panel will stand up to the rigors of daily use.
Golf facilities can order the PowerFilm system through their E-Z-GO sales representative or authorized distributor. Consumers can purchase the technology at select E-Z-GO authorized dealers.

How Does a Stirling Engine Work and Its Use in Solar Thermal Technology for Energy Generation
Posted by admin on Jan 20, 2012
Visit – http://www.SolarStirlingPlants.net – A Stirling engine is extremely simple heat exchange engine and works by low temperature difference between two metal surfaces. One surface is heated at one end of the engine while other is cooled down on the other end, causing the air to expand near the hot surface (high temperature) and compress near the cold surface (low temperature). This expansion and compression of air within the engine cylinder enables the movement of displacer or piston in upward and downward motion between the two surfaces into a cycle or loop. This efficient heat engine was invented by Robert Stirling in 1816 as an alternative to steam engines at that time and a great contribution in heat engine technology.
Stirling Engine Basics Explained
An ideal model for understanding the basics of a Stirling engine consists of a closed cylinder containing two metal surfaces (aluminium) at top and bottom of the cylinder. A displacer is placed between the two plates which is connected to a flywheel through a wire to transfer mechanical energy during upward motion. When one plate is heated for example; bottom plate, the air near that plate expands and causing the displacer to move upward. On the other hand flywheel is connected to a small piston which takes the mechanical energy from flywheel and push the displacer to aid in downward motion. When displacer reaches top position the small piston moves downward enabling the compress air to fill in the cylinder and push the displacer downward. Making a loop of upward and downward motion of both displacer and piston, resulting in the circular motion of flywheel.
Use in Solar Thermal Technology
In solar thermal technology we use heat energy from sunlight into mechanical energy to drive a generator or turbine to generate electricity. Stirling engine serves exactly the same purpose and they are very powerful solar power generators and produce clean and free renewable energy. Stirling Engines are used in solar thermal technology within solar dishes where a large parabolic reflector directs the sunlight into one focal point where Stirling engine is placed which then runs by using this heat energy from sunlight and giving mechanical energy to generate electricity. Solar thermal dishes are used in both residential and commercial electricity generation. Stirling engine powered solar dishes for residential use are comparatively smaller in size and generate around 1-2 kW of electricity. Whereas in commercial use a large single engine powered solar dish can generate up to 25kW (kiloWatt) of electricity.
Your geographical location is important in deciding if solar thermal engines are best option for you. Solar thermal engines are best choice for users in areas that get lot of sunlight throughout the year and not so good for areas that get lot of snow and less sunlight.
One of the best way to understand this extremely simple engine is to purchase a small DIY Stirling engine model. For further reading and buying a model please check http://www.SolarStirlingPlant.net History and Basics as well as it’s use in renewable energy.

OUR NEW LEGO LOGIC OFFER
Posted by admin on Jan 18, 2012
Add our solar wheels to your products and this will be the best demonstration to kids from Denmark to Darwin! This tech. pump up gets you massive improvements in the progress of miles per gallon!. The following tells the new story of solar cell photovoltaic’s applications and the science & developing markets that have been overlooked and underdeveloped. We wish to call your attention to “rotating photovoltaic cells, producing power.” Here’s an aerodynamic futuristic design from our engineers:
Try it! Sample it! Test drive it! Burn rubber with it! Spin out with it! Use it on a trial basis- just sample our (pp) wares. We have devised this introduction to high speed rpm rotations of a solar photovoltaic for use on earth and in space. (we have a rotary solar airplane in the works)
Once dismissed as a mere impossibility by all the “experts” the newer versions of photovoltaics in high spinning RPM applications are becoming the dominant force in the understanding and design of working progressive solar power. We have re-invented the in-wheel motor with solar tilting technologies. This “solar pv wheel” could be the tire of the future, with a solar powered propulsion agenda in place of the current hubcap (or spokes, et. al.) (p.p.) Our eco designers are working on a earth friendly “hubcap” with slip ring construction to travel multiple currents thru the car or directly to a motor attached to the wheel hub. (this has a motor attached directly to the solar cell underside, and direct to the wheel.) With “tilting technologies” both the car and wheel are able to seek greater sunlight. pp Our convex cell array will gain the higher angle of incidence to the sun’s light- and they flip up and out, for further volts when vehicles are parked.
Cars can run off of renewable energy and here’s the proof.
We have additional solar wheel inventions that superceede the outputs of the wheels shown. The spin cools down the solar cells array and adds efficiencies. Watch for our solar dome hubcaps to slip onto your car!
