Solar Power energy Environmental issues?

Posted by admin on Aug 28, 2010

There are no environmental issues using solar power is there? None at all?

There are some issues, but it is by far the cleanest possible solution. There are potential pollution issues with some of the chemicals used in the manufacturing process for both the solar cells and batteries. Mining for raw materials almost always adversely affects the environment.

There will be less sunlight hitting the plants and animals in the areas that solar cells are deployed. Although if done properly this shouldn’t be an issue.

how much would it cost to produce 10% of schools electricity by solar power?

Posted by admin on Aug 28, 2010

why not retrofit a school with solar power to produce about 10% of it’s electricity. and pay back the gov’t that savings until it is paid back then from that payback point the savings goes to the schools budget. I would think that most schools would be able to have that paid back sooner than the ratio of ten yrs. because of mainly 5 days a week and alot of schools still are not doing year around.

Why not natural sun light piped in through the reflective "solar Tube" devices and plastic/ glass "light pipes" Zero sustaining energy and the "government" could use soldiers to manufacture them instead of sending them to be blown up…LIVINGRY instead of KILLINGRY… read BF Fuller

Alternate energy sources in cars?

Posted by admin on Aug 28, 2010

I have something that ive been continuosly attempting to get people aware of and i think places like yahoo answers are a great way to spread awarness. There is a japanese solar powered car that could go over 80 miles an hour ran almost entirely of solar energy. There was a purely solar powered vehicle unmaned that could reach speeds over 150mph. There are suits a person can put on that will allow you to pick up 50 pound weights as long as u have a battery and ones in japan that will allow you to carry a crippled man up a mountain. Wierdly some of these things may sound like science fiction. i say go look it up although the facts may not be 100% correct the japanese car seems viable for sale some japanese car companies where looking into mass producing it soon. So why hasnt america caught up on this? we have hydrogen powered cars but u have to refuel those. solar powered cars would probaly be all around cheaper and save you tons. WHY ARENT WE RUNNING ON ALTERNATIVE ENERGY!!!!???

America has some of the best electric car companies. For example, the Green Vehicles Triac is going to be the first affordable highway speed EV available in July.

And Aptera is going to have the second.

http://greenhome.huddler.com/products/aptera-typ-1e-ev

Both are California companies. Next year ZAP and Miles also expect to join the mix.

Although ZENN might have the best one, and they’re a Canadian company.

And of course the Tesla Roaster is one of the coolest cars on the planet – a fully electric sports car.

Will space colonies that get their energy from solar power not thermally pollute the solar system? Defend your

Will space colonies that get their energy from solar power not thermally pollute the solar system? Defend your answer.

there’s the whole question

Thermal radiation from such colonies would leave the solar system at the speed of light, the same as un-captured sunlight.  Nothing would hang around to behave as a pollutant.

how much would it cost to install solar power to a 700 square ft house with one bathroom and a small kitchen?

You can gage whether this $700 system is too light or if it may work for your lifestyle. You can enhance it from there.

does anyone out there know where to apply for start up grants for solar and wind power ?Obama spoke of?

Posted by admin on Aug 27, 2010

i’m a female that is attempting to start up a solar company and i need funds to make it happen, where to start at ?

You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov – these are two FREE sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes.

Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants — all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently.

Note though that these grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT – Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program. Individuals especially for personal purposes are not eligible for federal grants.

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women’s Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women’s business center that will train women entrepreneurs

The government is NOT in the business of giving away free money for the sake of giving away money. Grants are free, but it means OBLIGATION. You will be obligated to do as the grant sets out to do. Grants have objectives, and your purpose must fit the objective of the grant.

For one, you have to write the grant application and the grant application is not a simple document – you have to explain how your purpose for applying for the grant fits well with the objectives set out by the grant. Grants have objectives, and the grant applications that best captures the grant’s objectives are approved.

There is a stringent review process through a committee composed of federal employees and selected experts in the field. You will compete with other applicants for the grant money, and this grant review committee will evaluate the merits of each proposal. Only those that they feel exemplifies the objective of the grant will be approved.

Help Solar Panel Project do soon!?

I’m doing a shcool porjet on solar panels I need to know all this informatio can some one help me?:Research and Support Your Opinion 1. Many companies that sell solar energy products advertise on the Internet. Do a search for these Web sites and make a list of sources. 2. Use these sources to find information about the cost and efficiency of solar heating products and designs. 3. Make a list of solar options that could be used in your home. For each one, list its approximate cost and its advantages and disadvantages. 4. Do you think solar energy is a practical option for your home? Write a paragraph summarizing your opinion. Make sure to support your opinion with facts from your research.

these arent so difficult. If I had access to google when I was in school, it would have been a breeze :D .
I assume your teacher is asking about Photovoltaic products .

4. YES. the rest is all you Kido . But I would say something about helping the environment , also not being (as)dependent on grid power or gas for heating or electricity. Good Luck=D
